Elevated Archery Stand Construction

Last month we discussed the Elevated Archery Stand that Lorelei Mitchell chose for her Eagle Scout Project. As with all Eagle Scout Projects Lorelei was responsible for the design, funding, material acquisition, construction and installation. She recruited many scouts and adults to help complete the projects.

Once the design was on paper, the angle iron, expanded metal, square tube, hardware, and paint was procured. Then the real fun started with the fabrication of the platform. The pieces were cut to length, fitted, and welded. The expanded metal was fit and welded to the top of the platform. Then the guard railing was fit and welded. Once completed it was time to cut and fit the 24 pieces of the support structure. With all the parts on hand the job of bolting the supports to the platform. Lots of scouts got experience with hand tools. The ladder and guard railing were donated by Mark Watson. It had to be fit to the platform which was quite a task.

Next month we will focus on the transportation and erection at the range.
